Ever wanted to compare areas in terms of greenery? Remote sensing data may present you with some answers. Here, we present a use case that can help us understand the utility of such information.
We use a year-long (2023) time series of 10m spatial resolution Sentinel-2 data to compute the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). For a map representation, we calculated the averaged NDVI as shown below.
For each of the two Noida sectors under study, we calculated mean NDVI values over the months within the year 2023 and presented them in the graph as shown below, which clearly indicates that in terms of vegetation, Sector 64 wins over Sector 66.
